“As long as there is violence, there will be no silence.”
Such was the pledge shared by Pastor David Isom Saturday during a Stop Asian Hate rally on the steps of Solano County Superior Court in Fairfield.
In recent weeks, anti-Asian hatred has sprawled across the nation and close to home, resulting in unprovoked threats and violence against Asian men and women. This needs to stop, speakers said.
Several dozens gathered, some with groups including the local branch of Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs, and others with law enforcement, lawmakers and the Solano County District Attorney’s Office. All denounced the racism and the violence in the midst of the pandemic, which many blame Asians for.
“We will stand up together and speak as one voice,” Isom said. “We are here to drive out the hate.”
